strange ATC problem

Postby vgbaron » Wed Oct 22, 2008 9:42 pm

Have Asus Rampage Formula mobo with sound card. Have FSX sounds going through speakers and voice going to headphones through front panel. Start flight, open ATC, contact ground, request taxi clearance, get clearance - so far so good - all sounds as expected and messages print and scroll in ATC dialog box. Taxi to runway, select contact tower and option for request takeoff clearance shows - now whether I press the number or click the selection - nothing happens except the selection blinks - no sound, no scrolling message - nothing. Dialog is not dead because if I select something else, the options change but no sound, no action takes place.

Tried sound acceleration on/off - no change.

Tried the old fix of switching between COM1 & 2 and back - no help.
Meanwhile all other sounds function as expected.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

Thanx,

Vic

That is weird.  Are you using all default sound?  Or do you use editvoicepack?

has this just happened once or does it happen every single time? if it was a one off then you might have to just reboot fsx and try the flight again. sometimes there are small little unsolvable myseteries that occur that can fix themselves the next time you start up.

The only thing I have seen cause something like this is the planes battery dying on you. The plane you are using may not have a battery switch and even though your engines are running it will not turn off the battery and turn on the generator, And after a while the battery will dye and cause you to loose all voice contact. I assigned the keystrokes shift B and shift G for battery and generator for planes that do not have a switch. 8-)
