Switching Panels, including the vc.... :(

Postby IKEpod » Sat Aug 16, 2008 9:38 am

I downloaded the Beech DS18 Amphib. Wonderful plane with perfect VC.
I also downloaded the C-45, (which is a DS18), but the panel was just a DC3 type. I switched the panels on the C-45, but the VC does not show :-[.
Anybody can help how the VC is linked to the original, and how I can tweak the new planes cfg or else to get the VC to work.
Thanks :-?

On a FS9 plane like your DS18, the VC is integrated into the external 3D model. You cannot switch it or whatever.
This is only possible with pure FSX aircraft, because they have separate models for interior and exterior.

Thanks, but there must be a way to do it still...
Take care.

Listen, the ONLY way to edit the VC, which is part of the model, is to have the ORIGINAL source file. There isn't another way

No, there is not!

No matter how much you might wish that were not so, it is indeed a fact...

What they say is true.....but luckily there is a vc model available. The C-45 is based on Milton's 2004 D-18s wheeled which has both no-vc and vc models. For some reason they chose the no-vc.

Download and install the FSX D18 Package and the 2 fixes from http://www.simviation.com/fsxprops15.htm.

From the C-45 folder rename the texture folder to 'texture.C45' and copy it to the D18 folder.

Copy the following and paste it into the d18's aircraft.cfg file below the [fltsim.5] section.

[fltsim.6]
title=C-45vc
sim=d18s
model=vc
panel=vc
sound=
texture=C45
kb_checklists=Beech18_check
kb_reference=Beech18_ref
atc_id=
atc_id_color = 0xffffffff
atc_parking_types = RAMP
atc_parking_code = 1
ui_manufacturer=Beechcraft MSA
ui_type="C-45 VC"
ui_variation=U.S.Army

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Even though I am not a knowledgeable guy, like you people, I do understand what had been stated earlier. Nevertheless, I did remember having seen a D18 somewhere, with full VC, but couldn't find it...
Thanks Dave, thats what I call a helpful FORUM , and there is another great radial engine plane with full vc, the Howard 500, same goes for the turbine powered NAMC Tomboy;D

Thanks Dave,
followed your instructions and all is working fine. That's what I call a perfect forum response, not the "no impossible", or whatever. I sent u an e-mail, Dave.
Best
