Joystick/ controller problem!

Postby demonicav8r » Sat Aug 09, 2008 7:18 pm

Hello, I'm pretty new to the Flight Sim world, and a while after purchasing FSX, I started using my  XBOX 360 controller, and while I was in-flight, the plane would pitch slightly up by itself. So, I tried my old PC controller, and it did the same. SO, i just bought the Saitek Aviator joystick, and it does the SAME THING! It's really frustrating, and I would really like to know if/ how this problem is fixable. Note: It didn't do the "Pitch" problem with the mouse. It works fine with teh mouse and arrow Keys. Thank you guys, I really hope this can be fixed.

Welcome to SimV,

First thing is to Calibrate your joystick/controller. On the FSX opening main screen click on Setting>Controls. Click on Calibrate. Select the joysick/controller and click on Properties to calibrate.

The reason you do not have problems using the mouse or keys is that they don't return to center as the joystick does. In the sim, as in the real world you 'trim' the aircraft to fly level with the joystick or yoke centered.

To learn how to trim the aircraft for level flight....On the opening screen click on the Learning Center and then the Lessons tab. Read thru (and then fly if you like) Lesson 1 to learn about level flight and how to trim for level flight.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Wow! Thanks ALOT! I didn't think you had to use the trim tab, because I always used the mouse. Now , I have the trim button mapped to my joystick. Thanks again!
