The Dill and the .dll, another chapter for Nick

(mods this is about the .dll file and not payware)

I installed the PMDG 747X but when I came to fly it I was told that the PMDGOptions.dll couldn't be found.

The PMDG site has a good wiki based knowledge and support area, and I discovered this was not an uncommon problem.

I uninstalled the 747, the Level D 763 and FSUIPC all of which use the .dll file - which resides inside your Roaming folder, then inside the Microsoft folder and inside the FSX folder.

What it does is strip out the carriage return at the end of each line.  Thus it jumbles up the events in the list.  Very often the plane exhibiting the fault is not the one that actually caused it.  Sometimes it stops FSX from working completely.  It is indeed the 737 you mentioned.

The only thing I put in 'the book' is typically default install and default setup stuff.. real basics. The issues like this should be addressed with the addon company so they fix their screwups

But I will note the thread in case I come across someone having PMDG issues. Its the first time I have seen this one

what .dll file did you modify not being a C++ programmer?

Nick,

I'd guess he's referring to the 'dll.xml' file and that the appended section was not properly formatted..

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

LOL!

thanks Dave

I was just coming back to post a "Duhhhhhhh" when I remembered the XML file

Forgot about the listing file since I have been working on textures for a few months and have not really been flying or using the sim with addons

Yes sorry guys. I was so chuffed that I had actually got something sorted without having to turn to Nick that I forgot to mention that it is the:   DLL.XML file

Found in the 'username'\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX folder along with the more familiar fsx.cfg file.
