Float plane speed uncontrollable

Postby crazyh » Fri May 30, 2008 1:44 am

I have several Float planes. Most are free ones. As soon as I touch the throttle most will start racing across the water picking up speed with 0 throttle. My aerosoft twotter, D-18 amphb, Alpha Sim PBY5A (FS9, modified for FSX)work fine. My FSD Porter, Otters, TBeaver all pick up speed the second I start the engine.Would anyone have a clue as to the cause.

I get the same with most any turbo-prop float/amphib. Don't know if this is a real-world problem.

I reduce the 'fuel conditioner' to low idle.

If that isn't enough then I tap the F2 key  a couple of times reduce the prop thrust. Again, I don't know if this would be done in the real-world, but it works for me..   ;)

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
