no gauges in VC

Postby Redthunder768 » Fri May 09, 2008 6:05 am

Hi, i did check the FAQ before i made this, and i read the topic about the blacked out cockpit, and i tried fixing it, but there is still a problem, specifically on the F4 and the F105 thunderchief. there are just black spaces where the gauges are supposed to be.

Hi, Can you be specific about which files you are talking about. There are multiple versions of most aircraft .

If the aircraft came with a 'Gauges' file or folder make sure these are in the Panel folder or the 'Gauges'folder in FSX.

Also note that MANY gauges that were compatble with the FS series up to FS9 are not compatible in FSX.  8-)

Hi,

I suppose you're talking about the Alphasim models that got freeware very recently right ? Unfortunately, there is no solution. Alphasim used to release theur payware models with no VC, and now they give the VC but without gauges :) The one and only model from them I've seen so far with a complete VC is the F-107.

I have currently installed on my FSX the Blackbird, the Berkut and the Jaguar. All of them have a VC, but none have any gauge. I wish somebody here would provide an alternate panel.cfg to include gauges for those nice models ! (especially for the blackbird in fact...)

yeah, i read that somewhere else too.

http://www.simviation.com/fsxmilitary17.htm

the F105 is on that page.

The F4 however, i did get half the gauges to come up, but it was my mistake that the F4's cockpit is 2d not a VC. i copied the gauges folder for it into the games gauge folder, but still only half come up.

OK . It is annoying when people release aircraft with unusable VC's without mentioning it in the description.
However this download does state 'No VC'

Replicating real flight,  I spend my FS time in the VC looking at instruments & out the window at landmarks (where they exist!), rarely looking at the plane itself.

To me the VC is by far the most important part of an aircraft model.

If it comes to my attention that an upload has an unusable VC I will always edit the description to mention this.

Ok, just to show that it's not difficult to edit those panels, here is my actual AlphaSim freeware Blackbird virtual cockpit:

I do not have any blackbird gauges on my FSX, so I just played around with some gauges from the AlphaSim freeware F-107 as well as some of the gauges from Tim Conrad's F-5A. Not so bad for a freeware :)
