questions concerning FSX

Postby Retired.Kid » Sat Apr 05, 2008 1:41 pm

Is there a Statue of Liberty? I read somewhere that the graphics of an addon where much better than the default Statue but I flew all over that island and saw nothing, no default Statue of Liberty. And I read about animation at Coney Island. I can't see anything where Coney Island is supposed to be except the crummy default land scenery.
And can anybody guess why my airplanes go so slow? I flew a piper cub from JFK to the coast and down the coast to Coney Island and it took me 2 hours. This was ridiculous and I didn't want to spend another 2 hours flying up to the Statue of Liberty so I quit the game and took a Lier Jet this time, same route, and it took me 2 hours again to get to Coney Island flying at 1,000 ft. What's going on?
I quit the game again and then flew from JFK directly West to where the Statue of Liberty is supposed to be. Saw nothing.

retired.kid from a kid who should be retired:  whereon earth have you set your scenery sliders, complexity and autogen.  Put them right to the left and you'll get bare earth, start moving them to the right until your game begins to stutter and look again.

I can find the Statue of Liberty from Australia,

and remember what the omniscient NickN says - its not FSX its your hardware.

In default scenery:

Statue of Liberty-is there. Scenery Complexity slider-at least normal. Set time to Dec. 31, 23:59 local and you'll see a fireworks display.

Coney Island-is there, represented by a few rides and the pier. Scenery Complexity slider-at least Sparse. Didn't see any animations. This is the same scenery as in FS2004, which is animated. Maybe they left the animations out.

Slow flight-Very slow frame rates?

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
