GPS disappears in 3D cockpit

In a 3D cockpit when I go to Views/Instrument Panel and select GPS the GPS is displayed in the 3D cockpit.  When I toggle through the various windows: spot/tower/airplane and then back to the 3D cockpit the GPS is gone and I have to again go into Views/Instrument Panel and then select GPS.  In a 2D cockpit after selected the first time the GPS is always still in the cockpit when I toggle back to the cockpit.  This happens in all aircraft that I use a 3D cockpit.  These are the Acceleration F/A-18A, Captin Sim F/A-18D and a freeware OV10A.

How can I get the GPS to stay visible in the 3D cockpit after I select it the first time?

Doesn't SHIFT + 3 open up the GPS like every other default aircraft?

I have never tried it, I will give it a try tonight, but it still would be nice if it would just stay displayed all the time after you select it the first time in a 3D cockpit like it does in a 2D cockpit.

I tried shift+3 on three different aircraft last night and this would not enable GPS on any of them, in fact it enabled different instruments on each of the three, none were the same.

So back to my original question, is there anyway in a 3D cockpit to get the GPS to stay everytime you toggle from cockpit to spot to tower anc back to cockpit like it will stay in a 2D cockpit?

I know of no way to get it to stick in the vc. It is a 2d window and tied to the 2d panel/windows. Maybe some one with more expertise in panels knows otherwise.

As for shift+3=GPS: The key combo used for any pop-up window depends on it's [windowxx] section in the panel.cfg file. [window00] toggles with Shift+1, [window01] with Shift+2, etc. Though most default aircraft have the GPS in [window02]=Shift+3, not all add-on aircraft have their pop-up windows in the same order.

Open ANY popup, then rightclick and select UNDOCK from the options.

It will then stay displayed forever until you (re)DOCK the window or close it.
