GPS enabled carrier released

Postby reider » Wed Feb 13, 2008 5:32 am

I`m pleased to announce my very first release of a download is now available at Simviation in the scenery section.  You can start on a standard carrier deck by using either EG51 for Plymouth or OB51 for Bahrain (Persian Gulf....Iran/Iraq).  Download is only 5k and a simple install, full facilities for uninstall included but probably unnecessary.

I am working on a MKII model and can actually start from the deck of the Acceleration Carrier too.  Both models include the possibilty of keying in the airport code and flying to the carrier (both standard and acceleration have the feature) from any location in the world also.

FSX Standard Carrier. The user can treat as a take off point and to approach by GPS with full use of an ACIO code to locate it. Two areas are enclosed, Plymouth Bay-EG51 and the Persian Gulf (Bahrain) OB51, close to Iran/Iraq. By using Aicarrier2 by Lamont Clark (here) the rest of the fleet can be set in motion. 6K

Following the above release I was approached and asked to rectify the lack of carriers in the Aegean.  This request was met and I`m happy to say although I only uploaded today Simviation has released it already.

FSX Aegean GPS Enabled Carrier - Two carriers which can be set to allow approach from any worldwide area via GPS or start off from the carrier deck. LG51 is set midway between Nikos Kazantzakis Iraklion (Heraklion) and LG52 is set in one of many natural bays near Ioannis Daskalogiannis Chania. With the mountains as a backdrop this is visually an extremely stunning area. Dedicated to Patrick DG (Degopat) who requested carriers in the Aegean. 6K

This is now in the FSX scenery section of downloads.

I have finished testing an Acceleration version in Plymouth and this works perfectly.  Meaning the user can opt to start from the deck and immediately use the catapult without first trying to manually land on the carrier.  Once I add the Persian gulf and Heraklion/Chania I will upload as a complete package for all 4 areas.

As a bonus I began working on an Aberdeen GPS approachable Piper Alpha Offshore Rig.  The helicopter landing platform, some 150` up is enabled to start a flight from in GPS or to approach by use of GPS.  I had to land on it manually before I could get the coordinates-so it is indeed possible  ::)  The rig has flames and smoke from the gas pipe.  the cranes are all moving and it looks extremely effective.  Even if not landing on it, the user can utilize it as effective scenery when crossing the sea.

I will continue testing and will be adding a supply ship/ferry that sails once/twice a day to the rig during daylight hours.  It should be possible to easily find this as it will be on a direct route between Aberdeen Harbour and the rig.  It should also be possible to land on it.  Again, this is purely free flight and I will upload on completion.
