Postby TeddyGramz1991 » Sun Feb 10, 2008 4:31 pm

Does anyone know where there is a oil rig (with helipad perferably) in free flight? I tried off the coast of Galveston TX but nothing.

You just didn't look in the right places.  ;)

Here is one West of Galveston complete w/a heliport. I knew it was there because it is a real rig. If this isn't the actual rig,  then it is relatively and coincidentally in the same spot as the one we go to. I have a 25' fishing boat and we like to fish off of it. It's a GREAT place for Grouper!

Notice in the picture that my GPS is on and shows the exact location of the rig. If you take-off from "Bay City MUN, Texas" (KBBY) and fly due south, you will fly right into it.

I thought this might help also. Here is a map of known Oil Platform locations in the Gulf of Mexico. You can search other areas of the country/world by simply using "Google Image Search" and typing in for example: "Map of oil platforms in Florida" -or- "off the coast of Florida" (or wherever you are looking for them).

;)

Each number on the map represents an Oil Platform. There are actually WAYYYY more in the gulf than this map shows but, it's a start.
