Flight Simulator deLuxe or Professional...

Postby IKEpod » Wed Jan 30, 2008 10:31 pm

... just bought a copy in Germany.
here a list of (just another) badly designed MICROSOFT program. Having said that, I recognize, tha MS has some good products, but can I not expect a well designed AND practical program for the largest software maker and one of the richest corporations in the f... world???

Read my lips, Bill Gates...

WHY does a customer have to install 15 GIGABYTES to find out that the system is not compatible, when it was for the normal FSX??? Any well designed program will FIRST check the system for compatibility. Why not this one?

  • Installation of this program brings the first frustrations.
only if you know what to do and make lengthy detours to the MS FSX website can you find SOME solutions, but not all.
After trying to install 3 times (hours of work) I finally was sucessful, only to find gliches.

Missions: the Mission Compass does not work at all.
Environment: I see cars and truck flying thru the air (haha) the bridge does not show!!!
    The MD83 is not existing
STILL some European cities have wrong or non existing city maps, and STILL the logbook sucks big time. It shows no flights, just like in the normal FSX....

I also cannot find the section where I can act as ATC. It is not explained anywhere.
I am frustrated about so much incompetence at Bill Gates realm. But what the heck, we are only dumb ass gamers, right.

This is what happens, when a company is so large and has such overwhelming worldwide market presence. Arrogance is the result.

Contrary to common believe in the US, I believe there are some extremely capable programmers in EUROPE. This is your chance guys. show it to Bill. Kick Ass...:)

    Shame on you Bill Gates...http://www.simviation.com/yabbfiles/Tem ... hocked.gif
    Shocked
Best (still with a sense of humor).

I don't think this is the proper place for FSX bashing however all of your problems have explanations and fixes. If you ask questions then many of the informed people here may be able to help you. First off, if you want help, I would post your pc specs so people can get a proper sense of your problems. But, if you just want to bash, you might want to go some where else.  ::)

The one thing I can tell you right off the bat is that you can only act as ATC in online Multiplayer on FSX DeLuxe.

I know that, but there is no reference made to help or to avoid having to read the whole FSX literature.

Thanks for your valuable reply. Do not treat people here like they fell from trees. That arrogance is not worthy of anyone at this forum and "simviation". I like it here, and will say as I please or you may block me for doing it, but it will not change facts.

I was not bashing, but stating those facts. besides, why do you have to be the MS advocate... That company could do better for our money (Not just with FSX). And that as well as other remarks about MS product quality where made by men running large US corporations. Even Bill Gates admitted it only recently.

It may be helpful for all of us, in all fairness, before you lecture me, if you visited the MS FSX web page, where you will find these issues listed. Even with some solutions :P..., and you might take note of the fact, that before I wrote this post, when those problems occurred,  I naturally, researched the possibility of making a mistake, and found plenty of evidence, that there are issues, especially with FSX de Luxe,  which have absolutely nothing to do with my installation procedure.

I have installed, and reinstalled FSX (normal version) a number of times only to find out that I had to follow another procedure, which again had to researched on the FSX site. One has to research the web to find he is not alone with these issues. I have installed and edited files of over 100 planes, successfully I might add, and will ask if need be. Guaranteed. There was no need in this case, period.

Last but not least you said it at the end... there are fixes ;D May I ask what a fix is? No, let me speculate a bit: A fix is the admission of a fault.

I know, making and selling software is a tricky bizz, so I understand that people make mistakes, respectively some issues are caused by other software. You can explain to me, why FSX (normal) worked fine on my machine, and why de Luxe didn't.

Thanks for your time and no hard feelings. You could visit one of my lectures about QUALITY MANAGEMENT, and find that I know what I am talking about. ;)
I did write that I took the issues with a sense of humor. How about yours.
My FSX de Luxe (PRO) works ALMOST fine now, haha
END of STORY!
