Aircraft Installation Help Please

Postby LeFeaoux » Mon Jan 28, 2008 11:57 pm

I recently downloaded the HJG EC-137D and for some unknown reason, I cannot get it installed. I followed the directions to the letter and still, it doesn't show-up in my hangar.

It said for FSX installation, delete the aircraft.cfg and rename the aircraft_fsx to aircraft.cfg BEFORE installing any textures. I did that. Then, I installed the texture and it didn't work. Can anyone help me with this?

Did you download and install the panel and sound files also?

YEP, I sure did. First I installed the "Base Model" and followed the installation instructions and then, I installed the texture. Everything seems to be in place ... that is why I can't figure out what is wrong.

I went to their site and reviewed the "FAQ" section and checked EVERYTHING they say to check if an aircraft won't install and everything was as it should be ... this is odd indeed!

I guess I'll try to write them and report the issue. Maybe they can help me figure it out.

You added the "[fltsim.xx]" entry to the aircraft.cfg?
(per the repaint section of the installation instructions)

IE:

[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing/USAF EC-137 AWACS
sim=ec-137d
model=EC137D
panel=
sound=
texture=usaf_1972_ec137d_71-1407
kb_checklists=
description=Boeing EC-137D 71-1407. This was the first prototype for the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) program. The aircraft was later re-designated as E-3A SENTRY and joined the expanding fleet of production models along with her sister ship 71-1408. Subsequently both were converted, along with their production counterparts to E-3B then E-3C specs.

Ummmmm ... I figured out what I did wrong. I went to their forum and the administrator told me that I didn't download and install the "CORE" files. Effects, Sounds, Gauges, etc. I dinked with it till 2:30 AM last night and never did get it installed. I just got too tired. I will give it another go today. It should work now.

Ok, I have hit a snag. The instructions say to install the Intact Panel file into "FSFSCONV" which is supposedly located in "Simobjects-Aircraft". I have looked there and cannot find that file anywhere in there. What is the exact path for that file?
:-?

If the folder is not there create it. The Panel.cfg will be aliased to this folder. The alternative is to install the panel to individual aircraft in the usual way.

PS. If you tell me which specific panel you're using I can check it out for you.
