Problem with AH's P-38s  megapack for FSX

Postby gary42127 » Sat Jan 05, 2008 9:31 am

When I try to use one of the P-38s from the Megapack, I get some weird looking textures.  I'm hoping someone has some insight into what the problem might be.  Everything else in my FSX installation is working perfectly, and I have SP1 installed as well as the latest video drivers for my machine.  I've attached a few screenshots so you can see the textures to which I'm referring.

I'm also having a problem with one of AHs "Late Corsair" textures and I've attached a screenshot of it also.

Thanks.

Step 1: Take the pilot off the acid. :P

Step 2: Truthfully I have no idea what would cause this. Are these aircraft designed for FSX or are they FS9 aircraft? The last one certaintly looks like an FS9 to FSX error. It looks like the alphas need to be redone. For the other aircraft, this is the first i have seen of an aircraft completely distorting the entire environment.

The Corsair is a FS9 package that I installed in FSX.  The P-38 package is for FSX.

I've talked to a few folks who have no problems with the P-38 package, so I'm guessing it's something on my end....but I've no idea what it might be since the rest of my FSX aircraft work fine.

Would it help to install SP2?

The aircraft may be corrupted. Try redownloading them and reinstalling the P-38s. If it doens't help try installing SP2 just incase and if not you may have to wait for NickN to help out.

As it turns out, the video driver I thought was the latest & greatest wasn't.

I had downloaded what I thought was the latest driver from Dell's website, since my PC is a Dell, but I discovered that there was a much newer driver on ATI's website.

After installing the driver, the funky textures went away and all is well.

Thanks to those who offered their assistance.   :)
