nhancer problem

Postby ThePilot_Ace » Fri Jan 04, 2008 4:47 pm

Hi guys, I recently downloaded the new 169.21 drivers from Nvidia. I uninstalled my old beta driver and ran the Guru Driver Sweeper. I uninstalled nhancer and all the profiles saved in application data. I installed the new drivers and installed nhancer again and set my profiles, and I get this:

However, I have not noticed any problems in my games, should I worry?

No worries

Its fine but you do need to set up BOTH the FSX profile and the GLOBAL profile as I outlines. 8x AF is too low. Set it to 16x and follow the rest of the list

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 53/165#172

I have seen that happen before. If you are concerned about the profiles missing, dont be. Its a blessing for you. It has to do with the use of a beta driver which did not have the code the official drivers have to retain the profiles. As I recal if you uninstall Nhancer (use the latest version) and delete all its support files, reinstall the official driver and Nhancer will restore the profiles, but its been a while since I have seen that happen so I can not remember 100% if it restores them or not

EDIT: AA is wrong too.. set it to SUPERSAMPLING

Ok thanks for the replies. Nick, I did follow your list, seems my memory isn't as good as I thought!

No Problem

Lately I seem to be having a bit of the memory problem myself

For instance I forgot to tell you to open the Nvidia driver control, set to manage 3D settings and scroll down the list..

If you use a single monitor, set to single display performance mode and set Vertical Sync to FORCE ON

:)

okay.

The highest supersampling option is 4x4. I can't get 8xS. I'll use SLI 8x since nhancer tells me my set up is SLI.

You need to reinstall Nhancer (and possibly the drivers) at this point. Make sure you do have the most recent version from the website: http://www.nhancer.com/

It looks like something did not register correctly with the new drivers. I saw the SLI tabs initially and knew they were out of place showing up in Nhancer with a single card setup but figured as long as things were working it would be best to leave it alone. My instructions do state it is usually best to uninstall Nhancer before removing and upgrading drivers. Although not always necessary, you simply never know when Nvidia is going to throw Nhancer a curve ball and break it so it is best to completely uninstall Nhancer as a precaution before upgrading drivers.

the SLI tabs should not show up unless the system has 2 cards in SLI running so there is definitely something wrong.

You may even wish to consider uninstalling Nhancer, uninstall the drivers and start the process over again by the instruction list.

Nick, the 7950GX2 is an SLI card (2 cards stuck together using 1 slot). It says it in the Nvidia Control Panel and in PC Wizard.

Sorry, there goes that memory again. I forgot you are on the GX2 and yes that means because of SLI you wont be able to get 8xS

This is one area I am not in tune with. I never used or worked with the GX2, nor have I ever worked with SLI. I prefer Crossfire over SLi when I play with multple cards.

SLI 8x is not 8xS

If that is the case I would use 4x over 8x and see if the visual loses any quality. If not, leave it at 4x

I have read there are limitations with Nhancer and SLi especially with the newer drivers.

Sorry I can not be much help in that area however SLi is one place I have vowed to stay out of    ;D
