Yes I agree. That system simply won't stand a chance with FSX. FS9 can look VERY good if you put time into it and the right freeware/payware.


The comment above might look like wisdom but..... If your existing video card is an X800 consider an X1650pro as a short term upgrade whilst you save the necessary for a new PC.

My own PC is three years old Intel 915 based motherboard, 2 Gigs of RAM, ATI X1650 pro, 3.4Gz P4 XP SP2 + updates. The thing is that system is running FSX SP2 pretty well with moderate to high graphical detail at decent framerates. I have purged all adware/malware and run regular maintenance (just scheduled scans, regular driver upgrades, MS XP updates - manual never automatic).

In the UK the X1650 pro can be had for under 47 quid less than $90 US  ..... You'd be able to get a good bit more out  of FSX and save a pile of money toward what will be an awesome PC later in 2008. :)

May I also reccomend a new card before you conign FSX to the shelf? I have recently rebuilt my system and now have an ATI Radeon 2600pro 512mb card. Assuming you have a PCI-Express port, this would be a worthwhile upgrade as it's reletively cheap (I paid
