Can anyone please tell me how to get a stationary view of the aircraft that's not a tower view? In other words, a view that functions just like the tower view but from the ground? You know, just as it would be if you were at an airport watching aircraft.

If you have FS-Recorder then you can "record" the plane doing a fly-by then you can use the PLay-as-traffic utility and put a small aircraft on the groudn near the fly-by or whatever your doign in the correct position and watch the other aircraft do the action and snap away :)

That is one of my problems with FSX is trying to do something about the spot views. I am probably missing something but with FS9 I could use the pan views to navigate around the aircraft in a smooth manner but so far I have not been able to do this with FSX. But to be honest I have not really tried that hard. But if someone out there could give me a litte hint I it would be welcomed.
That is one of the reasons I have not flown FSX that much as the spot views are horriable and nothing like FS9. :-/ :'(

Robert,

Looking into your question, I just noticed that FSX has removed the 'tower' from the map. In the FS9 map you could define the location and elevation of the tower view to get the view you want. For FSX it looks like you would have to edit the 'tower view' location/elevation with an airport editor. ( I use the payware Flight1 AFX, but if you have the SDK installed I believe there are freware airport editors available.)

Gary,

The spot view functions the same as FS9, just a different way to get there. Use the S key to cycle to 'Outside View:'.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
