Free Flight screen problem

Postby PJmac » Tue Sep 11, 2007 9:25 am

After tranferring an FS2004 aircraft to FSX, When I go to Free Flight screen and select the new aircraft, the view of the A/c (which rotates slowly) appears for about a second then goes black. If I continue, the aircraft functions normally. Any ideas? I tried a System Restore the first time this happened, (with a FS2004 add-on, which had behaved normally up to then)then an uninstall and reinstall of FSX but no luck.

i had the same thing happen to me the other night...but my screen went white.  I asked if i had the "light boom" on and i did, i shut it off and the screen came back to normal.  Hope this helps.

Once I had the same. It's a driver prop ( ATI? ) in combination with Light Bloom.
Only non-Microsoft planes should be black.
Upgrade your drivers.

Thanks both for that.  I took the tick out of Light Bloom and it cured it!   By the way, ATI website says if drivers are not giving trouble you shouldn't upgrade them, others say always use the latest. I'm not sure what's best.  My card is Radeon 9600 and device manager reports driver as 6.14.10.6505  Should I update this?  I must say I value stability above almost all else!
