Should I...

Postby Mitch. » Sat Jul 21, 2007 5:42 am

I have a problem with my FSX and I am going to propose a possible solution.
I haven't had working ATC sound/communication for a while, I don't exactly know why. I did a FSX repair and nothing happened. So I have an idea; I am going to delete the sound folder from the FSX

Check your windows speaker or sound system setup.

If you have two speakers and Windows is set to 5.1, you won't hear the ATC.

Bjorn is right, the ATC in FSX is being directed on the center front speaker of a 5.1 sound system. If your system is not setup correctly for the sound (I mean in Windows, not in FSX), then you won't hear the ATC.

But you see I used to have ATC before I installed My Traffic X, I then uninstalled expecting to get my ATC back but it never happened. :-?

More likely than not, it's a problem with a codec.  One solution that has worked in the past is download a codec pack like the Ace Mega Codec pack.  It's free and pretty much covers everything out there...

I just realized you said it was an ATC thing, not sound entire.  The codec thing may not be accurate.  As for re-installing, some people re-install more than they change their underwear.  Personally, my life has to pretty much hang in the balance before I would do it, but it's worked before.

Before you do, backup your scenery and FSX.cfg files...

I had the same problem, in exactly the same circumstances.  A loss of ATC after installing My Traffic X.  I uninstalled and reinstalled.  BUT I forgot to save my scenery file.  Now that was a pain in the butt.
