My real annoyance with FSX.....

Postby coreservers » Sat Jul 21, 2007 10:54 am

Is when you have downloaded a lovely aeroplane. take off on a flight plan. fly for a while then land, and the darn thing sinks into the runway.

I'm not going to mention any specific craft, as it may offend the creator, and I'm by no way talented enough to make these things. And I do think it is an art.

But would it not be an idea to test them before publishing, as it seems to be a texture difference. The lasest happened at nashville intl. I landed lovely, nose wheel slightly up level wings 135knots. on the middle line, just beyond the numbers. and gloop into the runway, plane goes round in circles.  >:(
Annoying after flying for 2 hours.

The planes sinks through the ground for one and only one reason: the CPU has not enough power to compute the physics properly, and as a consequence it does not handle the contact with the ground properly. The most typical situation is when the plane starts to bounce on a runway.

Solution ?
-> Your CPU needs some more time to make its computations correctly, so you have to free some power for him: reduce the FPS limit.
What is your current setting for the FPS limit ? I think it is still too high.

currently it's set to 20fps, I've reduced it to 18 and wil ltry later with same plane on same runway.

I will have 3gb ram tomorrow however, should make a difference I think!!

Do the wheels sink all the time or just when you land the thing?  If it's constant, you may just need to adjust the contact points.
