That sounds like some massive wind sheer. You it sounds like you have gone from a strong headwind into a region of strong tailwind. This situation could account for what you observed. By crossing from the headwind to tail wind there would be a very noticeable drop in airspeed, especially if the sheer was strong enough. Was there any thunderstorm activity in the area?

Here is some quick info on windsheer - http://www.geo.mtu.edu/department/class ... eardef.htm

arg...ok, last night, flying a different 737 into ohare from las vegas, same thing...diving turn away from the localizer.  Turned off the auto pilot landed, then flew the same plane to lambert (after dinner, shut down the FS) and didn't have that problem.  Had it set up the same way.  I am starting to think there is a problem with the Ohare ILS in the program.  Anyone else have this problem?

You've got to remember that this is just a computer program that approximates what it's really like flying a big jet down a complex approach. You can't expect it to behave perfectly every time (sounds like most of the time it works okay for you). I myself sometimes get strange ATC requests or APP operations in which case I just cancel IFR and fly the approach manually using the relevant charts. Yes I know this wouldn't be allowed in real life, but the program doesn't always behave like real life!

I suggest try the exact same flight again and see if you get the same behaviour. Otherwise just chalk it off as a one-off mishap.

Good luck!

that's just it...doesn't seem like a one time thing...same runway to land, same thing happened...I am guessing that they are just bringing me in too high, but that shouldn't matter either...the AP should still turn towards the ILS, and line up, but it wouldn't get on the slope cause it was too high.  This is turning away from the slope.  Never had a problem anywhere else....dunno...my gut is telling me there is something wrong with the game on that runway...will try it later this week to see if i am right...
