missing hud

Postby eyekill » Wed Jun 13, 2007 11:14 am

i recently installed 2 addon planes (Grumman F-14D Tomcat Rev 2, 04/12/07 by Steve Hinson and F-16 by Kurt Olson). Neither plane will show insturments in the 3d Cockpit view mode. The F-16 will not show a hud either....any ideas?

I don't believe they have HUD's in the Virtual Cockpit. At least, both planes never did for me in both FS9 or FSX

Yea, they don't have huds, and the F-16 has no gauges in 3D. Its annoying but still a good aircraft.

Well the reason for this is because the F-16 gauges arent supported in FSX. I have the F-16 (my favorite plane!) for FSX and the hud doesnt show up for me. I even dowloaded the fix for it and it didn't work.

Two ideas:

(1) Someone posted a suggestion (so I don't take any credit) to copy the file msvcr70.dll from FS9, and place it in your main FSX directory. Of course you need FS9 to do this in the first place, but it will apparently permit gauges later than FS98 vintage to work in FSX. Haven't tried it but worth giving it a go if desperate.

(2) If the above fails I have a modified HUD that can be used if required - it's based on the default 747 MFD so wouldn't be strictly accurate for an F-16, but has the necessary working functions. If interested plse drop me a line.

I just downloaded the F-16 panel on the FSX panels page but -many- gauges are not supported because they are 98 or earlier. I'm very surprised that wasn't checked before being posted. The f-14 I have and F-18's al have huds working fine. I hope someone updated the panal I have always liked the F-16
