Altitude Callouts and Live Map View For FSX

Postby reider » Sun Jun 03, 2007 6:38 pm

I spotted these FS2004 addons and tried them successfully in FSX on Vista 32 bit.  Still under test but working AOK so far.  Can`t recall where I found them but they should be easy to locate.

FS2004 GPS Map View v2.0 (TalalnsMap20 is the file)

OK, you get a live map showing up to about 320NM of your current location.  You can elect to see Terrain, NDB`s, Airports, Current Location, Comms Settings for approaching airports, ILS frequencies, dial in any airport code and get the ILS, shows runway approaches, too many items to name.....  I`ve been looking for something like this ages now, had given up all hope of finding an FSX version, thankfully this FS2004 one works.  All of this without leaving the cockpit and without the file menu, just select an icon in your cockpit to bring up the map on screen as an overlay.

The ultimate gauge. The Map will show: Airports details (Runways ID's, length & ILS), VOR's and NDB's frequencies,
Intersections and waypoints, Airspaces, Approaches and flight routes. You can toggle the view
you require for your flight. Also you can zoom in/out to see the nearest airports, vor's and
ndb's. The map will indicate A/C heading flightplan title and waypoints ID's.

Version 2 includes more enhancements such as the ability to input the ICAO code of any airport and the map will
show all the frequencies of that airport including ATIS, ILS, AND COM. In addition, the map will show the active
runway designations, length and width.

FS2004 Gauges: GPWS gauge V3.3  (rcbgp-33 is the file)

This places a small icon on the panel, click it and the the GPWS gauge appears.  Click the gauge once and a red light comes on.  Click again and a green light comes on, this is test mode and a voice will play.  A second or two later and it is active and ready for use.  Various sounds including callouts from 2500 feet down to 10 feet.  Volume is easily configured, as is turning off individual sounds.  Clicking the gauge to show the red light stops all sounds. Clicking the small icon makes the full GPWS gauge vanish, so it doesn`t clutter up the panel.  Currently testing it in a b747-400 in FSX, using Vista 32 bit.  You will probably swap the sound files for alternatives and/or record your own.  Easy enough once its up and running.

This freeware GroundProximityWarningSystem gauge for FS2004 can be added
to any aircraft that has retractable gear and flaps, and offers the
following features:
- Clickable switch, with Test/Inhibit function and warning light.
- 8 different warning modes, with all the usual aural warnings, like "Pullup",
"Sinkrate", "TerrainTerrain", "Windshear" and normal Altitude callouts.
- Fully customiseable per aircraft type, by just editing the gauge parameters
 with Notepad.
See README for extensive description.
NEW in V3.3: new sound enable/disable handling, configurable
sound volumes, a new MasterWarningLight gauge (that enables you using the GPWS with
only a small gauge on the main panel window), and more.
For users of V2.0 (rcbgp-20.zip): see include file "Upgrade Notes" for upgrade and
detailled changes.

Theres a version 3 of the live map view on AVSIM now.  Was a slight problem in version 2 and one or two addons in the new one.  If you use the callouts then act with caution.  Copy your existing panel folder and/or panel.cfg and rename it to panelorig or something.  Theres a problem with the callout in that sometimes you get booted back to desktop.  I got rid of the master icon that calls the callout gauge, this didn`t fix it.  It only seems to happen when pressing the `A` key to swap views to main when you first open the selected scenario.  Using the file menu seems to work ok, fore warned is forearmed!

I have the sound working on the 747 and the 737.  The Live map version 3 (the new one) is working on the 747 only with plans to do the 737 later today hopefully.  Just got back from the vets with my dog and its been touch and go the last 4 days so I need to spend time with her.  If I get it done though I`ll post the sizings I used for the live map icons on each plane.

The sound doesn`t work on the DC10 package but I found the sounds in there for one they tested previously.  It now looks like they will be trying them out again so that will be a bonus if it pays off.
