Must be a bus driver...  ;)  I doubt you're using a VC 100% of the time.  I don't know of anyone who doesn't get out in mid-flight occasionally for a brief stroll around the outside of the plane.  If you are, then you are cheating yourself out of some beautiful graphics on some of these planes.

If it's a serious flight, I am.

If it's for screenshots, I'm not.

Bottom line: 2D panels blow in any case. :D

I fly only in VC, matrox triple head, but much of the scenery with mesh and landclass enhancements make outside views of the plane and landscape a must.  In  some cases like Genx for England and Wales, you put the airplane on autopilot, step outside with a map and do some good old map and compass nav.  IFR=I follow roads is a fun and a learning option after heavy metal FMCs.  It's just plain fun using spot and other views, including flybys and the works.

My oldest daughter thinks I need help. I sent her screen shots of where she lives at, when I flew in FSX and circled the beaches and her radio station.   :)

It's always better to fly a real plane, but for most of us it is either not possible financially or because of age and general deterioration.  Flightsimming is one form of flight where you're allowed to see how good a landing you can make after a few glasses of your favourite potion.
