snow geese

I'm watching a part of Planet Earth, and it showed the migration of the Snow Geese from the gulf of Mexico to the Arctic, across all of the US.  It was really amazing, because the geese literally almost blotted out the sky...

But would it be possible to program animals in such profusion, for a mission where you could track the migration in a 172 or something.
