MISSIONS IN FSX

Postby John_HR » Tue Jan 23, 2007 7:49 pm

Good evening to all Flight Simmers:

I've purchased and installed FSX, when I fly missions, frequently my computer suddenly shots down and restarts, why is that? anyone have an answer to that?
I'll describe my machine:
                                       Asus P4 Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ CPU
                                       1 Gig PC3200 Memory
                                       2 x Seagate 120 GB 7200  8MB Cache in Raid 1 Config
BFG OC Geforce 6800  256 MB AGP Card
                                       Onboard 32 Bit Sound Card
                                       Gig onboard LAN
DVD and CD drive R. W.
                                       ATX Case w/400W Power Supply
                                       Windows XP Home Edition
                                       DELL Monitor 21"

This machine seems to be too small to run good in FSX even with all sliders set at medium in free flight. Would just more RAM make it smoother? Or what else do I need?

Any help you guys and gals can provide, would be much appreciated.  :)

Right click your My Computer icon and select Properties.  Click on the Advanced tab, then Startup and Recovery options, and uncheck Automatically Restart.  You will then get a blue screen instead of the computer restarting, and it should help identify the problem.  Post here again with the error message on the blue screen if you need help figuring it out.

Thank you very much   mroseland,   I'll try that as soon as I have time again to fly some missions.

Just to inform you, I've flown many "missions" this weekend, and not once has it caused my pc to shut down, which is good.

Thanks guys

John.  :)

You will need a faster processor and a few video card to make fsX run good. I wouldn't say RAM is the most important, as my RAM usage barely passes 1gb. With Windows tweaks I'm sure you can make it run just fine on 1gb.
