Let's Review...

FSX including FSX Steam version.

Let's Review...

Postby Katahu » Tue Aug 08, 2006 7:40 pm

...what we have done and might do before and after FSX comes out.

I can imagine how everyone will react when the full version of FSX comes out.

--- 6 Months Prior
------ Fanatics jump with joy and make looooooooooooooong discussions that repeat for at least a month.
------ Fanatics kill time by flying the old version and post endlessly at a forum and forget that they have a life [if they ever had one to begin with].

--- 3 Months Prior
------ Fanatics then report many articles, screenies and video of the new sim.
------ The reports cause anxiety amongst FS fans

--- 2 Months Prior
------ A demo is released [first the first time in the history of the cosmos]
------ Those who wait for the demo have probably been sitting in front of their computers for days and have completely failed to notice that the electric bill is piling up due to non-stop use of the computer and have had their fingers sitting in the left mouse button and ready to hit "download" the moment the countdown reaches "0" seconds.

--- 1 Month Prior
------ People start to pitch their tents in front of Best Buy, Walmart, and other places that sell FSX like they did when Star Wars Episode III came out. I can imagine the strange rituals at this point.

--- Day of release
------ People start fighting over a box of FSX like it was Lord of the Rings.
------ Those who have survived and then got the box start to countdown the minutes it takes for them to reach their home and start counting down again as the computers takes 10 minutes to finish starting and then count down "another" 30 minutes as they install FSX. And when they finish, they find out that their computer can't handle the sim and then they start counting down the days again before they get a new computer.

If I'm missing anything, please let me know. ;D

And amongst those you have the ones that posted in the hardware forum to know what was the best for their brand new rig and to whom Ctjoyce or Congo replied 400W wasn't enough and that they had to get a 500W PSU.... ;D ;D ;D.

They'll come and scold them, thinking that with a less powerful PSU they could have played a few more hours.... ;D.

Cheers
-Seb (not having any problem with electricity bills :P)

Actually, it dosn't matter how much the power supply can put out, it's how much it is putting out ;) A computer at idle, will say use 180watts of power, under load that will fly upto over 300watts.
That's why it's good to have a big PSU so you're computer get's enouph power, because if it dosn't, you're computer will randomly restart, turn off, BSODS, or maybe you're power supply will blow up :D
I've noticed, that allot of the time, the higher that power supply max output, the more efficiant it is at them high output rates.

1. Make sure your system is running WinXP with Service Pack 2 installed, along with ALL Updates.

Why its it important to have Service Pack 2 installed?

I have managed very well so far with the original OEM version of Windows XP and Service Pack1...therefore avoiding all the problems that SP2 users have in Multiplayer...(Firewall problems, etc)... ;)...!

Sounds about right :D

And seeing as you have started many FSX threads, Kat, they should nickname you "FSX correspondant" ;D
