Broken link in FSX FAQ

Postby investdude » Tue Jul 12, 2022 1:25 pm

Under the FSX FAQ, the Question: "Very informative thread on setting up your FSX CFG FILE & a warning about NVidia Drivers." is inoperative, it gives: Unable to open ./Boards/.txt
Verbose: No such file or directory. That info was very informative and I'd like to see it again.

Sorry for the delay. Our web dev lives in Ukraine so things like this are taking longer to get fixed. If it's not a dead external link I'll get it fixed. Thanks

I don't mean to put pressure on anyone but just want it to be known that this broken link contains some very useful information and I think it is really, really, important that it be made available to the community again, even if it takes a long time to fix. So please don't give up!

Still hoping to get this broken link fixed, or at least the information on it made available again. I wish I had copied it when it was still up. Please don't give up.

If this broken link can't be fixed could the information on it at least be made available in some way? I'm new to FSX and I really need this info.

It seems it's not just a broken link. The archived message itself is no longer there.

The only two things I alter in the FSX.cfg

[GRAPHICS]
TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096
Default is 1024 but you can also change it to 2048.

HIGHMEMFIX=1

I also back up this file as it contains the active scenery folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

Still hoping to see this link fixed as the info there may solve some of my FSX problems. I understand there are difficulties fixing it but I hope Simviation won't give up.

As it's been 6 months since this link stopped working and despite promises to fix it, it is still dead, can we assume it's gone for ever?
