My registered copy of FSX/Acceleration that I've had since October 2006 has reverted to demo mode!!! After 30 min or so it says something like "thank you for trying the demo version, FSX will now close!!!! Geeezzzz! Thanks a lot!!!!
I have not added any third party addons lately or changed anything! Can't find the software reset tool on the Microsoft website... dead link! Was thinking of inserting Disc 1 and selecting repair.... Or delete and reinstall! Oy Vey! So many airplanes, helicopters, scenery, REX, Trees, yada yada yada to reinstall, don't really want to go there! Does anybody out there in SimVLand have any ideas?
Thanks for your help in advance!

I had a similar problem right after the November update to windows 10. Somehow or the other the update deactivated FSX and to make matters worse my system no longer even recognized the program as when I went to uninstall it the program was ot on the list of programs to uninstall. I had to insert disk 1 of FSX and then use the uninstall method. Once it was removed I made sure to remove any folders that were not removed such as the FSX cfg file
As for the reset tool Just google MSKB928080.EXE it should lead you to this link below
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... hNetEvents After you run this you should be able to reinstall FSX and hopefully Acceleration will reinstall and allow you to activate it
Make sure you run FSX after reinstalling before trying to reinstall acceleration.
If you run into the same problem I did you will find that acceleration will not allow you to activate it and FSX will once again be deactivated
To clear this problem involves altering the registry. But do not let that scare you the process is very simple as long as you follow the instructions. Trust me here I was not crazy about doing this either but it was relay a simple process.
this is the link
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... nd-mappingNow when I did this I noticed that partmgr was all ready present so I thought there was nothing wrong then I noticed that the instructions stated to use PartMgr so I figured why not so I entered PartMgr and hit enter I than got a warning message about having spaces in the entry I had just made. But I did not key any spaces so I just hit the enter button got out of the registry fired up FSX and lo and behold I got the Acceleration activation screen
apparently there are spaces in the original entry preventing it from working correctly
