Microsoft FSX/Deluxe/Acceleration Filtering Setting

Postby Flying Trucker » Sat Jan 07, 2017 9:31 am

Good morning all... <<q

I have changed these Filtering Settings in FSX during a simulated Test Flight and to be honest I do not see much of a difference...maybe it is just me...

With reference to Payware Screenshot Showcase>Flying Trucker>Test Flight

I am not happy with the looks of the two cockpit shots, especially the cockpit shot showing most of the Instruments.

Tried all the Filtering Settings in the FSX Settings and see little difference.

Display
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 [Display Adapter]
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 [Display Adapter]
Acer AL1916W [Monitor] mostly used for GPS & Autopilot...Display
Samsung SMB2330H [Monitor] used for simulated flight

Operating System
Windows 10 Professional (64)
Boot Mode: UEFI with Secure Boot disabled

Processor
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Hyper-threaded (8 total)

Drives
3570.09 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
3129.05 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

Memory Modules
8054 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory

This machine has no other games on it and it's primary use is for the Flight Simulator Game.

So...what Filtering Setting would be best for this system :?:

Well, in theory, anisotropic would be the 'best'. So, if you can set it to that without and frame rate drop, stuttering, flicker or lag, that would see to be the way to go to get the smoothest textures.

That said, a lot would also depend upon what add-ons of any sort you are using. For example, regardless of filtering settings, detail settings, and so on, some add-on aircraft textures can only look as good as they were made (sometimes painfully obvious in the quality of cockpits). And, if you are using the default ground textures... well... we all know why add-on scenery exits, ha ha.

Honestly, if your system can run anisotropic filtering, between the three you will probably notice only a great difference in the textures of better quality add-ons.

This in my humble opinion formed from personal experience. So, take it with a grain or two of salt.

Nice setup, btw.

Much appreciated Xyn_Air...will give it a try...I have programmed in a 3:31 hour simulated cross country flight in Quebec Canada as recommended by another member here. Lots of time to check things out. <<q

Yes I use Payware Aircraft, ORBX Scenery, REX and FSWC (Flight Simulator Water Configurator) during most of my simulated flights. ;)
