Slow Loading Textures

Postby Shadowcaster » Mon Oct 03, 2016 5:04 am

This is a problem I've had for a while if I spend a while outside the aircraft, for say, taking screen shots then when switching back to the virtual cockpit then the textures of the cockpit are slow to comeback. I find the worst offender is the new DC-3/C-47 from Manfred & Co, although others are guilty of the same offence and some have no problems at all. The odd thing is that the frame rate remains solid (locked at 30fps internally). System is a i5 2600 Quad overclocked, 1gig NVidea GTX 460 with 16gig of memory. I have tried lowering the scenery set detail fine weather with minimum clouds, sparse autogen low water detail none of which made any difference. Overall I'm very pleased with how the FSX looks with the higher settings and it runs very smooth indeed, the missing textures come back after 20/30 secs so it's not the end of the world just slightly puzzling. :?

If this is the only aircraft you are having this problem with I would suspect there is some kind of problem with the textures for that aircraft
Granted your video card is a little old but it should be sufficient. Is the driver up to date? If you do not know then you need to download this http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/download
This program will let you know if your drivers are up to date or not. This is the best and easiest way to keep your video cards up to date. This program is only designed for NVIDA cards
Make sure you use the custom install or it will install 3D vision drivers that your card will not support.
This program makes installing video card drivers a breeze. It handles everything it will uninstall your current driver than install the new one without you having to do a thing and no restart is needed.
Just because your frame rates do not drop does not mean everything is okay . I could be wrong about this but I do not think turning down the sliders will effect the textures that are displayed for a aircraft. I think this only effects scenery but I could be wrong about this.

Thanks for the replies chaps I think I have solved the problem or at least improved it, for some reason I forgot to adjust the CPU fan setting   on the Asus motherboard so the fan was not kicking in properly when the load put on it by FSX forced the temp up. Ah well you live and learn.
