Never 10

Never Windows 10 is my way of thinking. I had Windows 8 on this laptop when I bought it and every time I would get the message to install 8.1 I dismissed it with a do not install every time never fail. I was only asked a couple times about Windows 10 and refused them.
Yea I know some of you like it some have also ran into problems. I have been getting regular updates for Windows 8.1, you guess it Windows decided I needed the update more than I wanted it and one day I started my computer and it went straight to installing 8.1. So I have 8.1 without asking for it agreeing to it.
Things have been going on with this computer, I could not use the pad, I had turned it off because with CAD I can't really use that touch pad, besides that I have lazy thumbs that drag on the touch pad and I make mince meat out of what I am trying to type with it on, so I use a mouse. I went to turn it back on it did not work any longer when I needed it. Dimmer went out and I could not control the brightness even after I was on battery power alone.
Problem is Windows 10 was being installed on my computer despite me not wanting it. I was shown this yesterday and it uninstalled a bunch of crap.
This does not install anything on your computer, it is a exe file that will check your Win 7 or 8 and tell you what is already installed, you choose to remove it, it removes it. Click disable 10 updates and you will not get them anymore.

I am not sure what your problem is with windows 8.1 or Windows 10 but hey it is your system what you have on it is up to you.
The only problem you will eventually run into is the fact that Microsoft will stop supporting any window system other than the current version they have out at the time and for now that is Windows 10.
Now how long from now that Microsoft stops supporting older window versions is any body guess.
And as far as updates go all you have to do is to check the box that states do not download updates. Now you should still get messages that there are updates for your system and at some point in time you may have to install them. I think it is all part of the UL agreement
And the other problem is you will not be able to install any of the latest games or programs that come out in the future as they will need to have the current version of Windows in order to run them.
But like i said it is your system if you do not ever want to play any of the newest games or have any of the newest programs than by all means go for it.
But I think sooner or later you will have to install a newer version as things like your anti virus program will stop working.
Do you really think Microsoft is going to allow you not to update? It is inevitable. They will force you to one way or the other. Sooner or later.

I've come to truly believe people who put so much effort and suffer so much stress and anxiety from Windows operating system updates really should consider unplugging their computers from the Internet, run standalone forever. Maybe that would reduce the fear factor?

The only problems I've had with Win8/Win10 was a 1994 .net 2.0 program from Kodak which wouldn't run, and almost-as-old hardware, a scanner and industrial CD duplicator, which had no device drivers after Win XP. And there's plenty of step-by-step procedures to turn off the most offensive data collecting. But, haters gonna hate, as they say, right?

I want to go to what ever at my own pace. If I want Windows 10 I would just do it. It seems like every time I get a new version of Windows I lose something, something no longer works anymore. I have some simulators that I can't mess with anymore, they were taken away from me at a faster rate than they were replaced with something better.
Hell I still have WWII from Jane's and it still works. Anything where you can actually dogfight is no loner works beside WWII, the newer stuff is so screwy to mess with online it is not even worth trying to figure out how to setup my flight controls to. War Thunder I can't figure it out how to actually set up for online. I see a function and set it up and realize I should be using that button for something else. You have to figure out where the hell the last function was located just to cancel it and then you have to work out where the last function was before you can set that new function. Then you have to figure out if who ever made this was some back@ssword type who made the game who has no idea how the controls work on a real plane.
As far as updating to a newer OS, I will end up doing that when I lose another computer, they seem to take a crap faster than I can save up for the next one. BTW on a laptop due to being off the grid, need to update out solar with added wind power before I can build a really good gaming system again like I did in the past.
But I have read a few nightmares and don't care to have to go through that with my FSX.
But I guess that is just me....

BTW with my X-52 plugged in my mouse pointer was in the top left corner and could not get it out of the corner more than 2 inches before it would return back. My touch pad no longer worked. When I unplugged my laptop from power my computer would not go into power saving mode. I lost sound and rolled back my drivers to have to do it over and over again.
All I am saying is if you are like me and are not ready to go to Windows 10 yet Microsoft should not push you to. If they rolled out OS's that were completed before they rolled them out we would be more accepting I would think.
