Great New T-6 download

Postby Flacke » Fri Apr 01, 2016 2:24 pm

I am flying the new download on SimViation for the North American T-6 Pack.

It looks great, it sounds great, and it flies and handles very well. Its a very good airplane for a Freeware. I expect that due to the excellent aerobatics that it provides I will be flying it a lot . FYI.

[Remember to set magnetos to ON and fuel selector to On, Batteries to On etc. before the engine start.]

Thanks Flacke; totally agree with you ,I truly admire people who can see a picture of a plane and with great knowledge and skill can put it on a monitor screen and fly it sitting in his recliner and the only thing missing are the motion and the G`s. My dad flew in WWII and I flew in Nam but to sit here in my home and have literally hundreds or thousands of ircraft at my finger tips is just totally amazing. I so wish my dad was alive and could see his B-17 and him at the controls again approaching his IP to drop his load. I consider myself lucky to live in this day and at 78 years young and have this hobby and marvel at how real the planes look like that T-6 that you could count the rivets on and be able to start it from a cold and dark situation. I try to start all of my ac from C&D. It helps my memory for sure. The old 727 is still a stretch for. I flew recon for the Army in OV-10 as an artillery spotter. For M52-105mm Howitzer and 155. I called in a lot of death on some very bad people. {NVA and VC} I also flew AC-47 when they first came to Nam in 68. It was called the Spooky or Puff-the-Magic-Dragon I think it was a very famous lyric in a Beatles song. At night it was a very scary operation to watch those tracker rounds come out. At my age now I remenish about the destruction I caused the lives we lost and the millions or so of people total in the whole ordeal. Our count was way over 56,000 wonderful American soles and between 3-4 million total in 10 years of NVA and I was proud to serve but not proud of the lives that we as a whole took. Each one that perished had people and family that they truly loved and adored just like we did. It is a very haunting feel still at my age to have been apart of this period of time. Proud to have served our great country, the memorys are still with me just about every day.

Thats great Tony, glad that you enjoy the airplane. For a freeware aircraft it really does give us systems and handling that re-create the T6/SNJ/Harvard very well. I especially enjoy aerobatics in it because it makes you fly them precisely, just as the real airplane does. It isn't an over-powered rocketship that makes up for your mistakes with excess power. I will continue to practice in it and improve my skills. Right now I am practicing Loops until I can make them perfectly round in shape. That takes more skill than some people realize .

Hi ROYPCOX, first of all I salute your Father, and also you, for your service to your country in Air Combat. I have studied World War Two, Korea, and Viet Nam all of my life. I read every word you wrote and agree with it all. I know about everything that you wrote about including the AC-47. I have some very good memories from 43 years ago flying "unofficial" DC-3 trips as Co-Pilot and I also got some left-seat time as well. I still love the DC-3 and fly it often in FSX.
I agree that we are so lucky to have the quality of Flight sims that we do. I am one of those people who 'HAS TO FLY" almost every day. To be able to start up FSX-SE and choose an airplane of my choice is a real treat and I look forward to it every time. I can just picture how much fun it would be to have your beloved Dad here flying a really good B-17 in FSX with ORBX scenery around European areas that he flew over in wartime. It would be great to listen to his comments as he flew along.
Enjoy your flying and continue to post your experiences and impressions of new aircraft that you fly. Many of us will find it interesting, I am sure.
