FSX radios

Postby rmb823 » Mon Feb 08, 2016 6:23 am

Does anyone know if there is a way to answer to ATC commands in FSX without having to use the mouse. Can I setup a button on my yoke to push to talk to ATC.

Thanks
Bob

I find that radio requests to LAX ATC for a Big Mac with extra cheese and fries, mostly gets ignored...

Perhaps this might be a little more helpful - fsx keyboard commands pdf

The only ATC command that I'm familiar with is using the ACCENT or SCROLL LOCK keys. There's no problem reassigning other buttons or keys, depending on how you want to do it.

One thing to remember is that just as there are slightly different versions of FSX, there are also slightly different versions of the keyboard commands.

Absolutely there is I have a Saitek Cessna flight yoke and I have buttons on the yoke so I have programmed the left button to answer (1) and the right button to answer (2)
I even have a switch set to answer (3) which when on the ground requests permission to take off
I also set a slide switch so that one way brings up the ATC window and The other way Raises and lowers the Gear.
This is really a easy thing to do
I hardly have to use my keyboard at all I have programmed my yoke/throttle control to do just about everything I can even raise and lower flaps slowly or quickly with the push of a switch
on my throttle control

Its easy if you want to spend the money on hardware.
I have an 8 pushbutton module from Goflight, 6 of which are assigned to ATC user response commands as in most cases 6 is more than whats required. On the ocassions I need to press the 7,8,or 9th response item, I then resort to use the mouse. (p.s. the other two I use for moving the eyepoint left and right)
If you dont want to spend that kind of cash, work out which 2 or 3 responses you use the most (no. 1 is definate) and assign these into keyboard commands (however I would think that is more cumbersome than just using the mouse.

I suggest you look at multi crew experience. Complete voice control for the price of the program and a reasonable price mic/headphone combination both for about $100.00
