FSX Battle of Midway Yanco San IJN download issue..

Postby highfive66 » Sun Jan 24, 2016 5:43 pm

I've had an issue trying to unpack FSX Battle of Midway Yanco San IJN Aircrafts Carriers and Ships - http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=FSX_Battle_of_Midway_Yanco_San_IJN_Aircrafts_Carriers_and_Ships.zip&x=12&y=9 . The American counterpart file FSX Battle of Midway Yanco San USNAVY Aircrafts Carriers and Ships Package - http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=FSX_Battle_of_Midway_Yanco_San_USNAVY_Aircrafts_Carriers_and_Ships.zip&x=18&y=7 which I've unpacked without issue. To unpack both of them you need to be as the computer administrator, which I did. I've tried downloading the file twice & locks up (cannot close download window) each time I try to run. I've tried to locate elsewhere but can't find. Have read old commentary in my search on the topic that people have managed to download it previously http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?60995-Battle-of-Midway-USN-and-IJN-ships, so unsure what my problem is. Don't understand why I can unpack one and not the other.. Any suggestions..?

I downloaded and extracted both files with no problems.

Hi there. Did you extract the zipped file before running the installer? It works for me but as mentioned in error.txt I had to right-click on the EXE file & "Run as administrator".

In this case even though your User Account control is defined as administrator you still have to run programs like this using the run as administrator option.
Other wise they will not work
People get confused about this thinking that the fact there User Account Control is set as administrator that this means they do not have to run programs as administrator WHICH IS NOT TRUE.
One has nothing to do with the other .

After the pk. is unzipped & try to run as admin. the download exe. locks up.. Actually uninstalled FSX & made it the first thing I tried to re-download & the same thing happens.. Very strange I can download the American part, just not the Japanese.. Going to try downloading on my under-powered laptop just to see if I can unpack it there & move the files over to my personal PC.. Thanks for the input folks, appreciated.. Will put FSX in the laptop in the next day or two & see what happens..

Unless you have a very good laptop you might want to think twice about doing this as you will struggle to get any kind of descent frame rates. As a rule of thumb most lap tops are not really meant for gaming. But there are a few that you can do this on and still get good results but will cost more money.
The biggest problem is you can not put a graphic card in a laptop. You other issue is HEAT laptops do not cool very well.
I know that there are things you can buy to put the laptop on that will help to keep it cool. But when you have to do some serious graphic work it is going to create a lot of heat which is why the better graphic cards have such big fans on them. The other problem is POWER your better cards will require there own power supply beside the one it gets from the slot you put it in.
The Card I have recommends a 300 watt power supply with its own power plug
