I have today made a very interesting observation on my FSX framerates:
I run FSX on two monitors, a 24" main "play" monitor #1, with a 22" secondary monitor #2, positioned directly on top of #1.
I use monitor #2 for GPS,gauges, PFD etc.
(I run Plan-g on yet another monitor #3 ,a 20" placed on the side of #1. This lot runs on its own PC, networked to the main PC using SimConnect, so it is not part of this observation)
Generally my set up runs very well, very smooth and I average 80 + frames/sec. ( I don't use frame limiting of any sort)
And here's what I noticed:
There is a major difference in frame rates, DEPENDING on which monitor the mouse pointer is during play..
ie:
With the mouse pointer anywhere on monitor #1, I get say 60 fps.
Simply moving the mouse pointer up to monitor #2 and leaving it there, results in an increase of framerates to 80 fps, approx. 20fps
I wonder if anyone else has ever noticed this, or whether someone with a similar setup could see if they got the same?
