Utter Disasterous Mess !!

Postby Jetranger » Tue Oct 06, 2015 9:33 am

Wow, came across an Aircraft Download, that's so confusing and Disorganized , even I am having trouble trying to figure out how to make it right !

keep in mind, I've downloaded & installed over 4,800 Aircraft in my FSX / Gold Acceleration in the last 3 years.

usually I can work it out, or find a work around or simply "Improvise" until I get it.

but this ones tougher than most

tho NOT found on this site, but another site - Sim Outhouse and another one can't remember which now ?

Lotta Lotta swappin' files & folders and replacing that with this and that and changing this to that, and Ohh My,,,,

That Aircraft being SWingmans - FSX Native Swingman J2F Duck - series / models

* I've got 3 different models : JF2 4 - JF2 5 - JF2 6 models to install, somehow maybe ???

Than I found sum updates for it , that are confusing me,,,

so, any of you out there have this J2F Grumman Duck models, by Swingman ??

Airmail , Fozzer , ???

I'll eventually figure it out, but, there is an easier way !!!

looks like a really really nice crafted designed aircraft too badd its so overly complicated to install with all the swappin of this and that's and cfg changes.

Well, I finally got it and got it Airborne !

started sorting all the files at 10:30am, and its now 2:00pm

some of the problem was someone ? supposedly made an update for the panel cfg. and didn't put in any of the Panel bitmaps with the update and there were none with the original ?? hum ??

the there was some FDE updates along with some other FDE updates, soooo had to test em' out to see which worked.

in the end I ended up with 4 paint schemes for it, the VC is really decent, and now I'm putting trinkets in the Panel & cockpit,,,,,

Screen Shots to follow soon .

wheewww little difficult, but I got it figured out finally, had to swap sounds too,,, finally found one that fit with the engine it has for that era.

I have done a few fixes, reported things that do not work or I do not know how to make'm work, but I do not upload them here for I respect the copy writes. After all, I go copy/paste or Alpha change, erase/paste some more... until I get the skin or texture I am searching, the model or sound or gauges remain as they were.

I just downloaded from this site, the Bird Dog by Massimo Taccoli in civilian, skis, floats & military versions -for FS 2004 ACOF (in silver wings version), and the military version was iMPOSSiBLE to take off. It wandered from side to side of the tarmac like a VW Beetle with negative camber & poor tire presure, speeding on ice with oil added, fishtailing until it would turn over and crash. Even if I took off with another aircraft (after wiping the VW clean into the garage), and flying stable I would replace it with the Bird Dog military version (USAF or ARMY), it would stall inmediatly & crash & RESTART & CRASH until infinity was about to be reached. I tried changing the AiRCRAFT CFG for the civilian version so it would take off normally, to no avail.

I added the military textures to the civilian version (on wheels, of course), changed the MODEL in AiRCRAFT CFG after adding two more numbers. Now they fly very very well, a real pleasure. (Maybe this is for a Cessna or FS 2004 forum - I don't know). HASTA MAÑANA

Ya', Pete, its got some Gauge issues I'm gonna have to sort thru to fix before that happens !

Some gauges work, some don't, one of those deals :o

Kinda don't wanna upload stuff with issues, until their Tested thoroughly & fixed properly so there are no issues. :D

and works got me busy for the moment - so it may be a few weeks yet,,,

I didn't make the thing, but I'll try to sort thru the issues & fix what ain't workin'

it was kinda a hodge podge Fragmented mess of stuff to go thru the way the had it all fragmented in different files & updates or supposed updates ?? kinda wonder if the supposed update is the problem, I'll dive into that later when I get time :?

If you have trouble just send the file to me. I know a guy who will sort it out in a short time. I'm talking hours or less - not weeks. One of our regular contributors.

I tend to be that way too. If I find issues, I delete and wait for the correction.
