I tried to do it, but there's no way that I could do it.

Not even flying a ultra light into a good breeze.

I thought that I would give it a try....

How did you Blokes manage to achieve this amazing take-off/landing feat in the Flight Sim....

...cos 'Los Roques' (SVRS) doesn't appear in my airfield list, either in my FS 2004, or my FSX!

Maybe a brand new airfield...or one that MS forgot?

Looks like it was/is quite a busy airfield!

I once was part of the race around the world and on one of the legs we had to land a single engine aircraft in a field that had fences and trees on all sides of the actual runway. It took me 5 attempts before i finally made it but than taking off was not so easy either because of the trees. Than I remembered a trick that a pilot actually used when taking off on a short run way with obstacles close to the end of the runway.
What I did was use full flaps made sure that when I got on the runway i was as far back as I could go slam on the brakes as hard as I could hit full power and prayed that the plane did not come apart with the bouncing I waited till I could not wait any longer released brakes the plane bounced twice and than was airborne.
This procedure was actually done while taking off from a small air strip in Antigua in a P3 Orion. This airfield was designed for small single engine aircraft not meant for a four engine turbo prop. I think we pulled three g's at lift off I had no idea a P3 could take off from such a short runway. Than I remembered that a C130 is capable of taking off and land on a aircraft carrier with out a arresting hook and it uses the same engines as the P3 does. But the biggest difference is where the wings are. A P3 wings are on the bottom of the fuselage and a C130 are on top this allows it to clear the control tower on the aircraft hanger.
I thought i was going to get sick.

..tell you what I did in my FSX...

I wheeled my trusty, and very fast, Beechcraft Baron 58TC (turbocharged!) out of a hangar at Simon Bolivar (SVMI) airport...>>>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sim%C3%B3n ... nezuela%29

Took off, and flew N/E at 5,000 feet to spot the Los Roques group of Islands, and landed on a long sandy beach...>>>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Roques_archipelago

...but could find no airfield or landing strip (SVRS) there!... :o ....!

But...close by, is another Island, ISLA La Orchila, with an interesting history, including an air strip (SVLO)...>>>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Orchila

The islands can be spotted after zooming into the Satellite Maps off the coast of Venezuela.

Paul..... ...!

By the way...the weather was nice, with my Bermuda shorts, shades, sandals, and straw hat...and Ice Cream... :D ...!

Los Roques are a pair of islands north of Maiquetia or Simon Bolivar International airport in the center coast of Venezuela. You can take a look in Google maps. The main island has this field which was used a lot during better years. Its in use by people who will pay in Dollars to get there. Due to political reasons now a days and not to comment here, the tourist situation has changed. If things get better, I recommend these islands, 1000x1000, there a beauty.

Searching for some planes to use in my FSX in the Caribbean islands from Trinidad to Nassau with FSX Passengers, I came across these videos.

I do hope you enjoy them all. Some strips .....well....wee...have a bag someplace....

Oh, by the way there is a airport in Venezuela, South west or south Maracaibo Lake, in San Cristobal, called Paramillo. You have a download for FSX2004. In FSX its a strip but the reality is....Maybe we can find some good landings in YouTube...look for..... landings in Paramillo San Cristobal. Check it in Google Maps

Or if you want some fun...  check Tucacas......Check it in Google Maps and in You Tube.....,    <<v

Happy Landing in Venezuela...almost all landing sites, out of the main cities, are dirt, bad asphalt or etc, and are VFR... Simon Bolivar does have IFR and is or was considered a dangerous airport due to the winds and gusts on final ......so if you want to practice your skills.......welcome.....

Don't be happy with nice landings.....make a great or excellent approximation and the rest is cake.....even in bad weather....remember you don't drive a bus.......

La Orchila is a military/civil base. I personally have not been there but 4 times to La Tortuga..... by boat.....a 3/4 hour ride from Carenero Club in Higuerote..you have to sleep aboard and take blankets, its cold at night.... you can get there by chopper but your going to eat a lot of sand......as I said before, after things get better her....

Here you have the Higuerote airport which is for props and small turbos. But many years ago a full DC-9, that was going to Margarita Island, landed and all the passengers plus all airport personnel here where submitted by a gang that stole millions in a robbed assault to the plane...latter the plane took off with less then half the fuel and no passengers, back to Simon Bolivar airport.

The airstrip in Los Roques has been fixed once or twice..take a good look.......

Also in Venezuela we have a Princess Julianna, its not International...and although not so close to the beach it has winds blowing towards inland, FROM THE SEA AND YOU LAND IN RUNWAY 17. If you have your flaps as usual you'll float till the end...so ether you land the first time and good or hard ....or you land hard...there are mountains at the end of the runway.... can't miss em........

Excellent landings....
