Lost Cockpit sounds

Postby EVVFCX » Wed Dec 10, 2014 7:26 pm

Hi all,

In between dinnertime flying when all sound was ok and flying when I got home from work, something on the sound card drivers had become corrupted, I couldn't hear the ATC nor could I hear the pilots response from the built in speakers.

Put the laptop onto my TV on hdmi and no problems with sound, settings in control panel appeared ok so uninstalled
the sound card and rebooted where it then reinstalled the drivers and back came the atc/pilot voices but now I've lost
the buzz/hum of the flaps and gear movement, not very important but was ok earlier.

I've played around with the cockpit sound settings and none bring back the flaps/gear sounds.

Anybody any advice?

System is win7 64bit 8gb running full install of fsx gold.

Hi,

In case it's helpful here are my settings:

I'm confused about your statement that the sound worked fine when the HDMI output was used so you decided that the sound card (I'm assuming drivers) was the problem.
I have my Voice directed to a little USB speaker and was suspecting that your system somehow was directing the voice to some non-existent device. Either that or Voice had been turned all the way down.
If you haven't already try different aircraft and do an aircraft reload to make sure that some problem with the default FLT isn't being carried over.
I doubt that this has been of much help but don't know what else to suggest.

I too experienced the loss of sound. Running win7 64bit and loading up in slew mode. Pushed the Q and P buttons.. nada. I found the problem in my sound settings for the computer. Don't quite know how I did it but all is well...for now. What dls have you added? The issue happened fairly lately so I will delete those that MIGHT HAVE done this evil thing and go from there. Have you noticed any sound programs that weren't there before?

Hi,

The HD side of the laptop is a different system to the built in speakers and to be honest it was just a test at first to see if it could be different.
The HD sound is different selection in the control panel to the built in speakers.
The change was literally from shutdown to bootup, an instant change and no other program was run in between the fsx sessions.

On the sound settings I've tried those settings and it makes no difference to bring back the flaps/gear noises.
I've done no dls for a few months and this laptop gets used dinner time, night time and many weekends so I believe it's not caused by
any of the recent dls plus the main aircraft I 'fly' is the 737-800.

I'll try some other aircraft just in case.

thanks & regards

Steve
