aicarriers2

Postby Hawkeye07 » Sun Dec 07, 2014 10:42 pm

Hi everyone! I have a question for the omnipotent gurus who dwell in this hallow place. I've had Aicarriers2 installed in my FSX Acceleration set up for quite a while and have used it many times. A couple of days ago I went to try out my new Mustang Tales P-51D tailhooker and discovered the Cats won't work. I've tried several other aircraft to verify the problem and the Cats won't work with any of them including the default F/A18. I can trap all day long but I can't get the catapults to arm with shift I or extend/retract the launch bar with shift U. I can get the launch bar to extend/retract with another button I assigned on my joy stick but that's it. I tried reinstalling Aicarriers2 and doing a repair action with the acceleration disc but to no avail. Any ideas?

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.

Hello Hawkeye
I do not have the program you are talking about but my question is I gather that they used to work so What has changed since than?
Have you checked to make sure that your assignments have not been changed? Odds are that something you added has changed the assignment.
About the only thing I can think of would be to use SYSTEM RESTORE and go back to that point where it worked. But I have to warn you that doing this you will loose any thing that you added after the restore point, and some times it is just not worth it.
The only other option is to completely remove or uninstall all air craft that you use for this and to uninstall or remove Aircarriers2. Make sure all of the folders are gone. Check that your assignments are correct
Than slowly start to re add everything starting with Aircarriers2 and the default F/A18 and check to see if it works. Than go from there One at a time and make sure to check to see if anything changes.

Good Luck

Hi Gary,
Yes I've already tried removing the addons since I last used aicarriers including Mustang Tales. No help. I also removed and reinstalled Java since aicarriers needs that. Also no help. I'm rather reluctant to do a system restore if I can find another solution but I will use it as a last resort though. The assignments within FSX are unchanged; this was the first place I went to looking for an anomaly. Here's something I forgot to mention in my first post...I have FSX on two different drives C: and F: (F: being an external SSD) Whatever happened affected both of them. The copy on C: I keep as a stock, no changes copy for whenever I download a payware aircraft that has an installer that won't deviate from the "C: >program files >Microsoft >games >FSX" routine. Mustang Tales wasn't like that though. I loaded it right onto the F: drive.
So I'm really befuddled as to what happened. The carriers still function as advertised except for the Cats.

I hate self installers. You never know what they are doing and what they are changing.
But most payware aircraft makers are usually reliable. I am like you stumped on this one I am not 100% sure a system restore will help you much.
Have you tried to make different key stroke assignments. I might give that a try what can it hurt.
Wish you luck in figuring this one out it is really strange that it affected both drives. The only thing in common here is the FSX CFG file
That almost has to be the cause here try rename it and than let fsx build a new one.
Of course you will loose all of your saved features like where you start each start up. But you will also loose all of your keystroke assignments.
And this could be your culprit.

Fixed it! I still can't tell you why it malfunctioned but I have the Cats working again. You're right Gary, the system restore had no effect. So I reapplied the Acceleration "fix program" routine and then changed the key assignments followed by re-assigning the keys to the original assignments. Don't ask me why but it worked.

Glad you figured it out . I gave up long time ago trying to figure out why things stop working than start working again. I file it under WHO KNOWS? <<q
