Steve, you're bad luck!

My yoke suddenly went bad - all I can do is go in hard left circles.

Can't even get up to speed, not that it'd doo any good.

At least I have my old Logitech Attack 3.

Tomorrow after getting up the leaves I'll have to repair it. If I can.

..the old "Contact Spray" inside the Potentiometers as a temporary cure... ;) ....

The old carbon tracks wear away after zillions of operations on a Joystick/Yoke device....

(Like the crackle sounds that you get on old amplifier Volume Controls!).

Like us...they don't last forever!

Steve M wrote:Thanks Jim. Just an update. I went out today and bought a new Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. The box even said it was compatible with Win8. First I registered it and downloaded a profiler. Then I set all the FSX key commands that I wanted to buttons I selected. Now I fired up FSX everything works perfectly so I'm back in the sky again! Fozzer.. you were right! The old 'stick' is now 'stuck' on a shelf with all the other bits that don't work

THANK YOU all for taking the time to help.. <<u

Very glad to hear you are back up and flying :D . I was worrying that you would give up trying to fix the problem.

Keep smiling

I do like the 3D pro, easy to profile and the grip itself is nice and smooth. The only downside I have is that the throttle controller is just a small paddle. The old AV8R stick had much nicer dual control levers that could be locked together or unlocked and used for right and left engines.

I am using a SAITEK Cessna flight yoke with throttles and absolutely love it.

As for the bad POTS if you have a radio shack near you you should be able to buy new ones. One other trick you can sometimes use on potentiometers is to use a small pair of needle nose pliers and slightly bend the wiper arm this will make it make a better contact. But be very careful here as they can break off easily.
A different trick is to put another clip under the Eclip that holds the shaft in place I have done this before and had it work for quite some time.
