Pre Zipped Files

Postby Riggsy752 » Fri Jul 18, 2014 9:45 pm

Okay, I just started having issues with this a few days ago. Whenever I download an add-on plane for FSX on here or any other site it always comes pre zipped and will not open under any circumstances. I've checked everywhere and I can't come up with an answer. Any insight is appreciated!

What are you using to try to unzip these files? If you are using the Windows default tool, some .zip file won't be recognized by Windows as a proper archive. Try DLing and using something like 7Zip. I use that with never a hiccup.
Also, are you just clicking and waiting for it unzip? If so, is that file type still associated with the proper unzip program? Rclick on one and see if it's default "open with" program is the correct one you normally use. They accidentally get changed sometimes...

I don't know if any of this is any help...all I can think of atm...

Thank you for the reply! I'll give a little more info, because I find my post confusing looking at it now. When I click on the plane I want to download, it starts and asks me to save it. After I save it a pop up pops up and say "The file you are trying to download was interrupted" it then asks me to retry which I do. It then does a 70 mbs download in less than a second. For example it will say "Iberia airbusa320.zip has completed" When I go into the folder it says that it doesn't exist and that there isn't anything in there. All my previous downloads have worked and this just suddenly happened.

I suspect the problem is with your Internet connection. If a download is interrupted for any reason the file will be corrupt. Try downloading the file again after clearing your Temp Internet Files.

If the problem continues you might like to look for a download manager that will resume interrupted downloads. I've not used any so can't recommend one. I'm not sure if download managers will work with downloads from Simviation.

I apologise, I misunderstood the question first time around :)

I think Hagar hit the nail on the head, as usual! :violence-hammer: :confusion-seeingstars:

Good luck!

Hi,

Have you changed your download path and not realised it so that when you've checked your normal location there is nothing there?

An excellent suggestion!
Very easy to get caught out unaware....It has happened to me a few times.!

Always a good idea to confirm the actual path!

(Mine is always directed to my Desktop, where the download can easily be spotted!).

Oh yeah, I always keep it visible. I always save it to one place called FSX Downloads. Always in the same place.

Not me! :naughty:

I'm a much more private person. I prefer to keep "it" concealed, although "weapon" it is most certainly NOT!

Well friends, none of that worked. I decided just to reset my computer because it was riddled with a virus I couldn't get rid of. Running a lot smoother now though! :violin:
