Flying weather missions out of Patrick AFB

Postby Modlerbob » Wed Jul 02, 2014 6:11 pm

The current tropical storm off the coast of Florida has given me an opportunity to fly simulated hurricane hunter missions using the real time weather feature in FSX. Once I was in the storm I got a pretty bumpy ride that seemed fairly authentic. I was flying a Navy P-3C and an Air Force C-130H.

If you want to really experience a better version of any tropical storm or hurricane you need to get ACTIVE SKY Evolution it truly depicts them and they can be seen on radar
The weather program in FSX is the pits and does not come close to Active Sky.
This is a payware program and there are others out there as well but I do not know if they depict hurricanes.

Thanks for the information. But, alas, for now I will just have to make do with what FSX provides. I am still stinging from wasting my money on Mega scenery Florida. Living on SSD (social security disability) means I have a very tight budget.

I went to the site and downloaded this ( fsrealwx.zip ) Unzipped it and installed it but from that point I am lost and I can't find any instructions on how to integrate it with FSX.

modlerbob,

You'll also need FSUIPC; another handy tool that's free:

http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
Installation is easy, and the freeware version is all you'll need.

FSRealWxLite uses FSUIPC to interact with FSX. Once you have FSUIPC installed, then fire up FSX and start a Flight. Once your Flight loads and is up & running, pause FSX and minimize it. Crank up FSRealWxLite, click on Start and let it do its thing until you see the word "Success!". Minimize FSRealWxLite, resume FSX and voíla... different Wx!

Hope this helps... I use FSRealWxLite with FS9, and it's a free, easy way to get closer real time Wx in the Sim. Lots of people are using it.

Sorry Bob, i forgot FSUIPC, assuming is a terrible mistake
As Viper says. You can also load fsrealwx first, click start then you'll get a msg waiting for FS. Then load FSX and you're on.
