My younger brother is an avid FSX flyer and he gave me this hint for better performance. Start FSX in administrator mode. Right click the icon and select run in administrator mode.

Hmm, interesting. What kind of better performance have you or your brother experienced?

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.

It gives FSX the highest priority on cpu time. Since acquiring my latest desktop I haven't noticed much difference but with my previous one it was noticeable.
