The Republic Experimentals Uploaded

Postby Milton » Fri Jun 13, 2014 9:04 am

This week, I have uploaded three aircraft, the Republic "Experimentals". They are the XP47J, the XP47H, and the XP-72. Not sure when they will show up but you might keep an eye out for them in the FS9 Props section.

These packages are also FSX port over friendly having been tested on FSX/Accel/SP2 and P3D (with some minor issues there depending on versions).

Lots of model variants and superb paint schemes and sounds by Nigel Richards and Steve Bryant.

We hope you enjoy them. :-)

I run acceleration and have had no prop issues. I think it would work for sp2 but might need different prop textures. :dance: :dance:

Thank you Chuck. Not sure why it was put in the FSX Vintage category. I uploaded it to the FS2004 Props category. It's no wonder than why I could not see it. :-)

Yes, if you use the provided FSX texture replacements, the prop should be fine. Thanks

First of all, many thanks Milton for this two excellent planes!

I have tested as follows:

FS9, perfect as expected

FSX Acceleration DirectX9 (I've been using always in DX10 mode), changed propeller texture, perfect.

FSX DirectX10 plus Steve's fix, the only difference is that the canopy glasses are darker than the windscreen. No shadows in cabin (Steve's tool says is a legacy model)

Prepar3DV2, changed propeller texture with no effect, canopy glasses are darker than windscreen, but there are shadows in cabin (interfering with the fixed shadow of your VC).

Thanks papituwall; that sounds the same as we tested in v1.4 and 2.2?.

Hope it works well enough to enjoy.

Beautiful planes Milton ! Am in process of installing the third variation as "we speak".
I do have one question though and i apologise in advance if i have missed something simple in installation or in operation of the controls.
On the ground i have no directional control when taxiing despite unlocking tail wheel. Have made the amendment to the aircraft cfg but no difference.
I do not possess rudder peddles so cannot utilize differential braking. Is there some way to fix this ?
Keep up the great work , i envy you your skills.

Thank you Sir. :-)

Without pedals, you should open the aircraft.cfg, find the Contact Points section, and follow instuctions there. You will find something like this:

//point.0 = 1, -18.62, 0, -3.823, 1280, 0, 0.698, 045, 0.415, 2.5, 2, 1, 2, 0, 217.4, 217.4
//For non-castoring tail wheel, replace point.0 below with statement above-remove slashes
point.0 = 1, -18.62, 0, -3.823, 1280, 0, 0.698, 180, 0.415, 2.5, 2, 1, 2, 0, 217.4, 217.4

This simply changes the tail wheel angle of deflection from 180 degrees (indicating a castoring wheel) to 45 degrees steerable.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

BTW, if anyone has trouble cold starting the XP-72, change the following in the aircraft.cfg:

[piston_engine]
power_scalar = 0.9 <<<---- Change to 1.0

Thank you for your prompt reply, is now working perfectly . I neglected to move line 0 down to the top of the other config and save .
This is what comes of "burning the midnight oil " and losing concentration i guess.

For those of you not into military variants, all 3 aircraft have civilian versions as show here in screenshots.
