TDS Boeing 737-800 with VC

Postby Mackyboy » Fri May 30, 2014 5:37 am

Hi all,
Does anyone know if a default VC or advanced VC (Alrot) can be added to the TDS Boeing 737-800, I've tried to do it myself and been unsuccessful.
I have downloaded the TDS 737-700 with advanced VC, but can't find the 800 with same.
Can anyone help please

You can only add these VC's to FSX native models. With Skyspirit/Project Opensky/TDS - the model will always have an 'x' in the model name.

I don't think they have yet released a FSX version of their 737-800. But the Project opensky version will be very similar for the time being.

... OR .... they have released a TDS FSX 737-700 to which you can add the VC

Mackyboy. As Pete said earlier,
You can only add these VC's to FSX native models. With Skyspirit/Project Opensky/TDS - the model will always have an 'x' in the model name.

There is an FSX native model of the TDS 737-700 but I don't think they've released an FSX native 737-800 yet. Most FS9 models will display in FSX BUT FSX native models are not compatible with FS9 so would not be posted as FS9/FSX.

This article explains how to determine if a model is FSX native. http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums/topic/165025-how-to-use-default-fsx-vc-with-an-addon-plane/
I suggest opening the MDL file in Wordpad as the TDS files won't open in Notepad for me.

Usually you can open the .MDL file (inside the model folder of your aircraft) with Notepad (Right click - Open with Notepad)

I have just tried one of the TDS models and it opened OK for me in notepad (took about 20 seconds to open)

In the 1st line of the model file you can see if it's FSX or FS2004

FSX- you will see MDLXMDLH
FS2004 - you will see MDL8MDLH

Note - X and 8 = the difference

With most FSX native models you can add a VC if it doesn't already have one.
