quantas A80 vertical stabilizer question

Postby bombardier » Wed Jan 29, 2014 5:05 pm

hello to all: I think I got the terminology right

in my quantas A380 my vertical stabilizer is in locked pitched up mode its on a 45 degrees angle. I must have done somethng to it to make it like that but I do not know what.

is there a button to push or anything in that nature.

so this what happens when I take off the vertical stabilizer pushes the tail down into the runway. how do I fix this?
and in flight still pushes the tail down and keep climbing on a 45 degree angle.

any ideas?

I think you mean "Elevator"?

Have you got the autopilot engaged? Disengage it.
Have you adjusted the "Trim Wheel" to centralise the Elevator?

(The Vertical Stabiliser is the fixed vertical fin).

hello fozzer:

yes you were right: the elevator pitch selector was set to 20 degrees down. those gremlins are at it again. no not really. I guess I changed the elevator pitch I cannot see why I would do that.

so by changeing the pitch on the elevator makes the jet take off sooner once enough speed has established.

Yep!

You probably need to adjust the Trim Wheel to pitch the Nose UP slightly for take off...(and maybe apply a dose of Flap Down as well).

Re-adjust the settings once up in the air.

Read the Aircraft Manual for procedures.

Practice your take-off (and landing) procedures in the lovely-old Cessna 172 Trainer first.... ;) ...!
