FS9 F-104s in FSX

Anyone know if it's possible to make the Cloud9 or Captain Sim F-104s work in FSX? I have heard that it's possible but not sure how to go about it.

I have run the Capt. Sim F104 in FSX but the Cloud9, as far as I remember has not FSX compatible gauges. I don't know if the Capt. Sim will work in DirectX10 but with the Steve DX10 fixer (recommended) I think it will.

The only difference when installing in FS9 or FSX is that in FS9 the aircraft are in a folder named Aircraft but in FSX are in a subfolder of the folder Simobjects named Aeroplanes. The folders effects, gauges and sounds (if exist) are the same.

Then follow the nex steps in order to get 100% functional:

Fly the CAPT SIM F104 in FSX

From a disc or installer:

When you execute the installer, in the FSX path, it will create a new Aircraft folder, as in FS9, instead of in SimObjects \ airplanes.

You have 2 solutions after installing:

A1 - In fsx.cfg, add in [MAIN] this line: SimObjectPaths.6=aircraft, to create a new path for Aircraft. If there is a route with "6" or more figures, this line must have the last nunber.
A2- I have tested in Win7x64 only: Copy the Legendary_F104 folder from Aircraft to SimObjects \ airplanes. Delete Aircraft folder.

If the installation is made copying files from FS9:

B1 - Copy the CaptainSim folder, from FS9 to FSX, if there are other CS airplanes in your installation, it is needed the ?104? subfolder and the file cs_sound
B2 - Copy the Gauges folder in FSX
B3 - Open a new folder FSX\Aircraft and copy Legendary_F104 there. This path is working with all Windows versions, althoug in Windows7x64 it works placed in Simobjects\Airplanes as referred in A2.

We have the plane in FSX, but the VC is seen partially, to solve it, go to Aircraft\Legendary_F104 and open to the Panel subfolder, edit the file panel.cfg and in:

[Window00]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=1600,1200
position=7
visible=1
ident=MAIN_PANEL
render_3d_window=1
gauge00=cs_f104!main_panel, 0,0,1600,1200
gauge01=cs_f104!Pric, 740,450,120,120,

Delete the line:render_3d_window=1

ALL IN THIS THE PLANE IS FUNCTIONAL, EXCEPT the RADAR. I leave to each one try to install a radar i.e from F-104 Alphasim or a free one of E. Marciano or another one.

Important: It is necessary to open the window SHIFT+4 and switch ON GENE 1 and GENE 2 (those of red covers to the left) if not neither the undercarriage nor the flaps are functional.

Hey thanks a bunch. That worked for the CS F-104. I had heard that it was almost unflyable in FSX but I think it looks and flies great. Thanks again.

Also, my radar seems to work although I'm not really sure how to interpret the blips I see on it...

Glad to see your positive feedback, thanks.
At present I'm using mainly X-plane, but I keep FS9 and FSX installations. I have done in the past several portovers from 9 to X and luckily I had writen and kept this guide.
Concerning radar as far as I remember the Eric Marciano one gives information about other aircraft.
