Wrong gate?

Postby EVVFCX » Thu Dec 05, 2013 8:00 am

Hi All,

When you've enjoyed the flight, landed and taxied in to the gate only to find that your plane will not fit at the gate you've been assigned, apart from loading up the sdk and re-assigning parking, is there anything you can do about it? There doesn't appear to be an option to select another gate.

It looked like I wouldn't fit where they were sending me so I went to another gate, ATC wouldn't shut up about taxing until I'd gone onto the correct gate, my right wing was just inside the building without detecting building collision.

Presume others have had simialr situation, what did you do?

I was at gate 21 at Cancun, Mexico.

regards

One thing you can do is to ensure that you have the correct parking code for the aircraft that you are flying.
Inside the aircraft.cfg file you should have a line like this atc_parking_types=CARGO
This is from the default B747-400 from FS9 But there should be lines like this in FSX as well a lot of aircraft do not have this line with out it you will get something like what you got.
Try Goggling ATC parking codes for FSX and you will get om interesting reading

Hi Gary?

Cheers for that, I've checked the code and looked on the fsdevelopers pages and the code doesn't exist according to their website.

The code in the aircraft.cfg is BCA which I cannot find, as far as I can tell, that code is the airlines name not the aircraft type or function.

I'll read a bit more when I'm free.

regards

There are two entries one can make for this one of them is a airline code the other is the gate.
Sometimes a airport that you have downloaded will not have any parking spaces at all defined. If that is the case you have to use AFCAD to make gates for each aircraft type they are defined by the radius of the parking spot. So you could have a cargo parking space at a gate rather than at some other building away fro the main terminal. I personally would not do this but you could if you wanted to.
If you ever landed at a airport and ATC would not give you the taxi to the gate option then either there are no empty spaces or no parking spaces defined.
You have to remember that even though you do not see any AI aircraft at a airport it does not mean there no spaces defined not all airports have AI for them it depends on how many different AI flight plans you have I use World of AI http://www.world-of-ai.com/ you can down load all kinds of AI flight plans from here. Just keep one thing in mind the more AI flight plans you have the more it will slow down your frame rates for FSX.
And the one thing you NEVER want to do is to use a flyable aircraft for Flight plans especially if it is Payware. It will slow down your system significantly

Hi gary,
I've set the parking type to gate heavy and docking and it appears OK.

I did look at the 737 aircraft.cfg and they are are not set at all and also never gives me a gate where I cannot fit.

I've got to fire up afcad but it's on my old PC- not active at the mo.

I want to correct the ils errors on doncaster and dalaman airports, used to do some work at Doncaster Finningley when it was RAF and I fly to Dalaman every year.

cheers
