Loud Noise after Launch.

Postby Mistro » Mon Nov 25, 2013 5:52 pm

After launching the main game, all sounds are normal. When I launch a flight, there is a loud noise in the VC view that I cannot describe. When I go to exterior view, it sound a bit normal but the sound is distorted. I tried checking my sound settings and even deleted the cnfg. file to let FSX build a new one with no success. I have no idea what is causing this condition. When I first installed it everything was fine. It's been months since I decided to take a flight and now this issue. I suspect it could be interference from some other install on my system. I also have the same problem with my BVE simulator. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone and would anyone have any clue why this would happen?

Often when I first get into 3d, I hear a clunk noise followed by tire squeal sound. It is only during the instant the plane first loads tough. After that I don't hear it anymore.
Is this what you are hearing, or does it continue on all the time?

It continues. The noise makes me want to throw my headphones across the room. Weird. I will try a reinstall. I really wanted to avoid that though. I'm waiting to see if there is an easy fix first.

I ended up doing a reinstall but the problem is still there. After reading many posts on sound issues with FSX I have a strong feeling it has nothing to do with FSX. I think it is system related. Perhaps my video card drivers (this is why I always hesitate to upgrade anything). After reinstalling, I thought the problem was gone. The sounds in the cockpit was normal until I started looking around. I also notice the problem gets worse when easing down the throttle when landing. Mashing the "Q" button clears it up for a bit but the sound remains unstable. Can anyone explain to me the relationship between the system drivers (sound and video card) and simulation games like this?

I cant think of any relation between video and audio other than Direct X
have you tried the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" to check audio ?
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... ostic-tool

if the noise continues after pressing "Q" then I suspect a system problem
fsx puts alot of strain on most pc's have you checked temps ?
your sound device could be getting ready to fail

I discovered that in my latest reformat a year ago, I installed drivers for the on board Realtek sound out of curiosity. I uninstalled it today. The sound issue got better but I'm not out the woods yet. Now the sound is normal in cockpit view as long as I do not switch views in the 737. In the Beach Baron I had a few hiccups in the beginning but was able to switch views with no sound issues while flying until I landed. Once I landed the sound disappeared then started going in and out.

Hi,

years ago on a low end system I had sounds problems, all i did was drop the quality of the display settings and it cured it.

Try lower resolution and mesh quality to see if it cures it.
Also on that same system I changed the video card from a 500mb to a 1gb and that alone cured it.

Has this happened after the video driver change?

It's hard to tell because I haven't taken a flight in over a year until recently and I updated my drivers right after I reformatted last year. But I can tell you prior to updating the video card, I never had this problem. But it could be a mix up with my sound card drivers too. I will try to lower my settings and see what happens. Thanks.

I got it sorted. I uninstalled the drivers for the onboard Realtek audio in an effort to force FSX to my soundcard. I still had the problem so I reinstalled the drivers and switched my headphones to the onboard audio jacks (why I didn't think of this earlier, I don't know). Now the sound problem is gone. I was lazy during my last reformat and was using the onboard audio for a while. Once I installed the drivers for my soundcard, I guess the sounds for FSX in flight wanted to stick to the onboard audio.

..I've got an idea that the "on-board audio" is enabled/disabled in the Computer BIOS set-up.
Disable it, if you want to use a separate PCI sound card.... ...!

Probably best not to run both at the same time?
