How to fly with vatsim... Or any atc service online?

Postby tcco94 » Sun Aug 18, 2013 12:54 pm

Hey guys,

Haven't posted anything in awhile been extremely busy. But I've had some more free time and I've always wanted to get into the real atc world online with fsx but never pursued it. So I've flown about 2000 hours with my virtual airlines, retired from pva currently but I understand the acars system very very well. I figured sone vatsim server would be the best server to fly on because there are more users on that network.

I just kind of need an introduction to how to set it up, as far as talking to atc I will have no problem as long as it's close to real life. I'm about 20 hours away from my commercial certificate and I'm instrument rated so I got all the IFR stuff down but can someone kind of just walk me through how to connect, file my flight plan with the controllers? I obviously already have an account with vatsim I've just never tried the online atc before. Also is there a list of airports that have controllers or how ever that works online. I'm hoping they have all the frequencies like tower, ground, departure, center. That would be awesome.

Thanks alot for your guys help!!

Hello Tyler...

..Good to see you again!... :D ...!

As with a few of us, we still fly On-Line with FS Host Multiplayer, (like we did in the olden days!), but personally I have not flown with VATSIM in mind....(a bit too "organised" for me!).

I think a few others here do, so they may be able to help you... ;) ...!

Paul....FS 2004 and FSX...and still in the Bay Area!.... ...!
